Week the next

Back again with an exciting class with Chris our directing lecture. In this class we discussed the difference between objective and subjective camera/POV and how it effects the film.

Objective is less about the emotion and more about what happens. There is a lot of over the shoulder shots and none if any of the face and emotion.

Subjective is when its all about the emotion there is no over shoulder or wide its all close up and tight framing.

So for our next assignment we have to film a shot scene using only one of these. It think I will go objective.

week something

So this week we had an actor come in and talk to us about rehearsals and the whole process one thing that I found different was how the script developed with each performance and what actors need so much information to get the best performance. It was amazing how it all came together.

Week 6

Topic of the Week
(Scene + Unit)

Ok so this week we dealt with breaking the script down even more. and we try to do this by finding the BEAT in the script. now for all of you who don't know what a beat is, don't worry because neither did I. The BEAT of a story was a term made up by an amazing man, Stanislavski, who created a system for method acting, and directing.

Scene Actions:
the over all mood in the scene. eg. Chris is fuming about the accusation.

Unit Actions:
the small things in the script that change the actors acting. eg. Chris is fuming about the accusation. -> Chris decides to interrogate the accuser.

Week 4 : Breaking down a script

Topic of the Week
Breaking down a script

This week we spent the class breaking down a script. and let me say it was harder then it seems. The first thing you need to know is, what story are you trying to tell, to understand everything about the characters the plot and the setting and this is before you put pen to paper. and then after all that you start wondering
- budget
- who you are going to hire
- Where, When, and What you are going to shoot
- and the Shot list
among other things.

And thats it for me
bueno adiĆ³s, disfrute de su tiempo, y siga filmando a mis amigos

Week 3- Short Films

Topic of the Week:
Short Films

Sorry for the lateness but this topic has stumped me. So i will ask you "Why make short films?".

my first reaction was because we can but as the class discussion went alone i figured i was completely wrong. We make short films to tell a story, to promote our selfs, and because we have little budget.

I didn't realise how hard it can be to be a director for a short film. it's just as complicated as a feature but with more at stake. Most short films are made from the pockets of the directors and since our class i have a higher respect for people who justify making them as a job when everything hangs on that one short film.

Week 2 ...... *Sigh*

Another day, Another week in the grand adventure of me. Welcome to all those that sail this ship. as you can tell i have gone crazy at tafe and i now believe I'm a Pirate Aaaaarrrrr. So now to the blog.

Topic of the Week:

So each week i will be doing a blog about a TOPIC, that was brought up in my directing class.

Theme is the main Message or Moral that you are trying to put into a movie or show. The Director should know at all times what his theme is and how it will effect the movie, depending on the theme will determine what shots are used what lighting it has and what the set/pros look like. And once this theme is established he director must stay true and straight for the movie to be a success.

Well that enough from me.

enjoy and stay away from Davy Jones' Locker.

To begin

To begin this i begin as every one else. Im a 19 year old film student who has no idea where he wants to go and what he wants to do. i want to try to be everything and to also help other people get to where they want to go. i want to inspire people to create things and do things that they have never believed the could weather it be making a film or writing a book. When people dream they believe in them selfs.

Now i will be doing 2 blogs one is about my Tafe life the other ..... lets say creative writing, weather it be my book a short story or a script. if you have any suggestions for anything (but the book) please let me know.
